]]> Farshid Shafiee, born in Tehran in 1969, is one of the most renowned picture book illustrators. He studied graphic design and animation in his hometown and has served as an editor and art director for various magazines and publishers. His extensive body of work includes over 50 children’s picture books, more than 30 book covers, and four short animated films. His film My Dad’s Car (2000) won a special prize at the International Festival for Animation in Tehran (2001).

Shafiee’s art is a heartfelt homage to his Persian heritage. “I strive to be a small part of the rich culture and history of my country, which spans over 11,000 years,” he says. His illustrations draw inspiration from traditional myths, legends, and contemporary Iranian fairytales.
